Life has been turned upside down, tossed through the dryer and spat out this year!
If you’re anything like me, you came into 2020 with a plan of what you want your life to look like in 12 months for now and it isn’t exactly turning out that way.
Who could have predicted what’s been unfolding over the last 6 months!?
It’s not uncommon to get 6 months into a year and feel like you’re starting to tread water… and not move anywhere… This year might be feeling particularly hard.
If you’re feeling stuck or finding it difficult to achieve the goals you set out to achieve, it’s time to revisit those goals.
Adjust them to make sure that they are SMART goals might make all the difference.
S – Specific
M – Measurable
A – Actionable
R – Realistic
T – Timely
So in this blog, I wanted to go through 5 signs that it’s time to clarify your goals.
1. You’re constantly seeking for the ‘best game plan” or the “right” thing to do.
If this sounds familiar, there’s a good chance that you don’t have absolute clarity yet on what your goal actually is.
When you’re ultimately clear on your goal, the outcome is specific and it has a deadline and you will also be able to then reverse engineer that goal to shine light on the steps in between.
2. You find yourself putting off your work.
When you have clarity around your goals, you’re excited for the outcome and you’re motivated to work on your business or your goals.
Ever find yourself putting off work for ‘tomorrow’?
Ever feel demotivated, bored and frustrated?
It’s time to regain clarity around your goals and to inspire yourself.
Once again, it comes back to your WHY and the reason you are putting the work in to begin with.
3. You Keep Changing Your Goals
There’s no doubt that that when you set your goals, the journey to achieving those goals is never a straight line. It takes a lot of navigating
If you intend on hitting your target though, you need to make sure that target isn’t constantly moving.
When you’re changing your goals constantly, you end up drifting. Your actions are no longer truly intentional.
Take the time to clarify exactly where you want to end up so that you can take the necessary steps to get there.
Procrastination Is Becoming Familiar
Sometimes you might have a specific goal that you want to achieve, but you haven’t clearly visualized what life will look like once you’ve achieved that goal.
For example, perhaps your goal is to earn your first six figure year in your online business.
That number is a specific goal. But have you given it much thought as to what you want your life to look like when you achieve that goal?
What will you be doing each day?
What work will you be doing when you achieve that? How many hours per day/week will you be working?
When you have clarity around what life will look like when you achieve that goal, you’ll be more motivated to get that work done!
You Don’t Really Know What You Want
Ever started off on a journey with no real clear idea of what you want to achieve?
For example, maybe your New Year’s resolution is to be ‘healthier’.
- What does that actually look like?
- Does it mean quitting smoking?
- Giving up sugar?
- Losing 20lb?
- Walking every day?
- Running your first marathon?
Be really specific about what it is you want to achieve and it makes it so much easier to then set the necessary steps to actually achieve those goals.
Visualize these goals regularly to help you stay on track and keep your momentum moving forward.
Knowing exactly where you want to end up allows you to reverse engineer the steps that are required to achieve your results.
